Police have arrested 1,711 individuals across the country in the past 24 hours as part of an ongoing special drive to restore law and order, according to a press release from the Police Headquarters issued today.
Of those detained, 1,184 were wanted under existing warrants, while 527 were held for various criminal activities, the statement said.
During the operation, police also recovered one locally made single-shot gun, two imported pistols, one magazine, a live round of ammunition, and two switch knives used in criminal activities.
The nationwide crackdown, authorities said, is part of continued efforts to enhance public safety and curb crime.
