Bangladesh has appointed Md Ehsanul Haque, currently senior secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division, as senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, according to a government notification issued on Sunday (October 12). 

The appointment was made on a contractual basis, the ministry said. 

Ehsanul Haque was among five retired additional secretaries who were brought back on two-year contracts and elevated to secretary on August 17 last year; he was then assigned to the Road Transport and Highways Division and later promoted to senior secretary.  

The top post at the Ministry of Public Administration had been vacant since September 21, when Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman, the incumbent senior secretary, was transferred to the Planning Commission as a member.
