DHAKA: The daughter of the mother who attempted to burn herself along with two children in Kamalapur area Thursday, out of a huff as her husband married second time, died early Friday at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Bilashi’s baby son Raihan, 3, earlier died on Thursday night hours after they were admitted to the hospital.

The daughter, Rajani, 8, who received serious burn injury in Thursday’s self-immolation attempt, died at about 6 am Friday, hospital sources said.   

Only the mother is now left to groan and mourn at the burn unit of the hospital, where she is under intensive care of the physicians.

Distraught over her husband’s tortures and second marriage, the young housewife, Bilashi, 27, attempted to end a sea of trouble by burning herself along with her two children pouring kerosene on their bodies and setting them on fire. Neighbours rescued them and took them to the hospital.  

This happens to be a latest incident of a number of broken-home tragedies in recent times.
