BRAHMANBARIA: Country’s first Y-shaped bridge is going to build on the estuary of Titas River in the district.
Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) sources confirmed to banglanews that the construction work of a 771.2-metre bridge over the river Titas at Bancharampur upazila of the district is going on in full swing and would be end within this current year.
The 8.10 meters width bridge project is being implemented involving Tk84.66 crore.
Bangladesh and China joint venture institution WMCG-Navana JV started the construction on June 16, 2011 and construction works is set to end on December 9.
People from seven unions of Bancharampur upazila will be benefited from the bridge, sources said.
Bancharampur Upazila Local Government Engineering Department Engineer ABM Khorshed Alam told banglanews, “The Bridge will make easier the communication of people on Muradnagar-Comilla and Dhaka-Brahmanbaria routes.”
Besides, the bridge will be used as bypass road of Chittagong-Dhaka road.
Local Member of the Parliament and state minister for liberation war affairs Captain (retd) Tazul Islam told, “This ‘Y’ shaped bridge building was a long cherished dream to me.”
