PABNA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to inaugurate the work of first phase of much awaited Ruppur Nuclear Power plant with 2000-MW capability on October 2.

State Minister for Science and Technology affairs Architect Dr Yafesh Osman came up with the disclosure in a view exchange meeting with local noted persons and journalists at Pabna Circuit House on Saturday afternoon.

The minister also said: “The work will start after 63 types of tests. There will be 5-tier security curtain. So, there is nothing to be worried about the project.”

State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku, Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu MP of Pabna-4, Golam Faruk Prince MP of Pabna Sadar, Administrator of District Parishad M Saidul Haque Chunnu, Deputy Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman and Police Super Miraj Uddin Ahmed also spoke.

It has been estimated to produce 2000-MW electricity from two nuclear reactors of the project.
