CHITTAGONG: Hundreds of vehicles got stranded both sides of Chittagong-Bandarban-Cox’s Bazar highway as workers of human haulers put barricade in Patia upazila on the route from Sunday noon.

The blockade, started from 12:30 pm, created serious traffic jam on the route that pushed hundreds of passengers into serious sufferings.

Local human hauler workers’ union general secretary Nurunnabi told banglanews, “Workers blocked the highway in the morning for half an hour protesting the prohibition on entry the human haulers to the port city.”

Later, agitated workers removed the blockade as per assurance of the administration, he added.

But traffic police again obstructed the vehicles to entry in the city.

Later, hundreds of agitated workers again took position on roads.

Patia police station Officer-in-Charge Mafiz Uddin told banglanews, “We are trying to remove the blockade by convincing the workers.”
