DHAKA: Election Commissioner Abu Hafiz on Sunday categorically said it would be difficult for the election commission to hold the next general elections keeping parliament active.
The election commissioner came up with the disclosure while talking to reporters about next general polls at EC secretariat in the city.
Abu Hafiz said, “The election commission has no quandary to hold next general polls as per constitution but the political parties and government should decide the path to hold it free and fare and its not EC’s responsibility.”
He added: “It will be easier for the election commission to hold the next general election if parliament is dissolved.”
Hafiz also talked on voter identity card and primary preparation to oversee a fair and successful election.
