DHAKA: M Nazmul Quaunine presented his credentials to Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio, Governor-General of Independent State of Papua New Guinea on September 10 as concurrently accredited High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Papua New Guinea at the Government House in Port Moresbey.
Following the presentation ceremony, the Governor-General and the Bangladesh High Commissioner had a short interaction.
Bangladesh High Commissioner briefed the Governor-General on the on-going development activities in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Ogio appreciated the role that Bangladesh has been playing in the Commonwealth and other international fora for global peace, security and development.
Ambassador Quaunine had separate meetings with some dignitaries including the key Ministers of PNG and discussed with them bilateral issues with particulars focus on employment of skilled and semi-skilled manpower, import of RMG, pharmaceuticals and other products from Bangladesh and relaxing and simplification of visa procedure for Bangladesh nationals for PNG.
Nazmul Quaunine is a career diplomat and is currently the resident Ambassador of Bangladesh to Indonesia and concurrently accredited to Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste.
