Felani’s father appeals for justice

KURIGRAM: Accusing Indian government, M Nurul Islam, father of Felani who was killed by Border Security Force (BSF) of India, appealed to Indian High Commission for justice and compensation.

He sent an email in this connection to Indian High Commissioner and human rights organizations on Wednesday.

Nurul Islam urged the Indian government, human rights organizations and people to take legal actions against the killing.

Copies of the email were sent to the executive director of Manobadhikar Surokkha Mancha (MASUM) Kiriti Roy and the executive director Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) Sultana Kamal.

Two officials of ASK Tipu Sultan and Abu Ahmed Foyzul told banglanews that Felani’s father Nurul Islam handed over the application to them on Tuesday when they went to visit them.

This will be handed over to Sultana Kamal on Thursday.

Felani, a 15-year-old girl, was shot dead on Kurigram border by BSF personnel when she got entangled in barbed-wire fences on the frontier on January 7 in 2011.

The brutality triggered a huge outcry throughout the country.
