DHAKA: A four-day director general level conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India underway here on Sunday.

The conference started around 10.30am at BGB Headquarters of Pilkhana in the capital.

A 19-member delegation of Bangladesh led by BGB Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed is participating in the meeting.

BGB team include the Additional Director General of BGB, all the Regional Commanders and high ups of foreign ministry, Survey Bangladesh, India-Bangladesh Joint River Commission members.

On the other hand, BSF Director General Sri Suvas Joshi is leading the 20-member BSF team.

Sources said that killing and abduction of Bangladeshi people along the border by BSF, stopping smuggling of drugs, finding ways to stop illegal trespassing, stopping unauthorized establishments within 150 yards of international borders among other issues are likely to get priority in the meeting.

The meeting will end by signing JRD (Joint Record of Discussions) on September 18.
