Jamaat terms it anti-human rights

DHAKA: Terming the amended ‘Voter List Act-2013’ a defiance of human rights, Jamaat-e-Islami said that government initiated war crimes trial against humanity, but it violated human rights.

A delegation of Jamaat came up with assertion in a press briefing after meeting election commission on Sunday.

Terming the meeting successful, Jamaat’s central executive committee member Dr Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, “Canceling the registration of Jamaat is unfeasible as per existing laws as leap facility still active as a provision in the appellate division and setting bar on taking part in the next general polls is also a violation of the constitution.”

He said, “The voter list act-2013 is an unconstitutional drive with ill motive as per the constitution section-122 which says each Bangladeshi citizen over 18 years is able to be included in voter list”.
