SAVAR: A young garment worker was stabbed to death on Thursday noon in Chhayabithi area of the municipality.

The deceased was identified as Alamgir, 26, of village Majhgaon in Sathia Thana of Pabna.

Alamgir was a worker of Bandho Design, a readymade garment factory in Jamgara area of Ashulia.

According to witnesses and police, some friends of Alamgir stabbed him following an altercation among them over money sharing at around 1.30pm.

His friends--Akter, Parvez, Mintu, Aharif, Azad, Uzzal, Saddam and Ibrahim--later fled the scene, they added.

“Alamgir was rushed to local clinic where the duty doctor declared him dead,” said one source.

Ashulia Thana police sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue. A murder case was filed with Savar Thana. None was arrested, said police.

OC of Savar Thana Mahbubur Rahman told banglanews24.com.bd that as per preliminary investigation, the garment worker was also a “member of a muggers’ gang and he was killed over hijacked money sharing”.
