Jurain tragedy:  two prime suspects held, remanded for 7 days

Dhaka: Detective police Saturday arrested and remanded Rashedul Kabir and Razia Sultana Smriti couple for seven days for interrogating in the case filed regarding the death of his first wife Farzana Kabir Rita and their two children in Jurain.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Nazrul Islam granted the remand when the two were produced in the court. Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman, investigation officer for the case, produced them before the court and prayed for taking them under custody for seven days.

Moreover, the court granted another 3-day remand for interrogating Shafiqul Kabir, Special Correspondent of Daily Ittefaq, and his wife Noor Banu, daughters Kabita Kabir and Shukhon Kabir and son-in-law Delwar Hossain Patwari in connection with the case.

Rashedul Kabir and Razia Sultana Smriti were arrested at about 11 am in front of Pizza Hut in Gulshan area.

All the accused of the case were arrested, along with a pharmacy owner in Doyaganj area, after getting information from the arrested driver of the woebegone family, Al-Amin.

The bodies of Farzana Kabir Rita and her son Pabon and daughter Payel, 10, were found in their Jurain residence on June 10.

Rita`s mother, Mazeda Begum, filed the case against eight persons under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on June 11.
