A Dhaka court today sent former lawmaker and singer Momtaz Begum to jail after the end of her four-day remand in connection with the Sagor murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Minhajul Islam passed the order today after rejcting her bail plea.

Detectives arrested Momtaz from Dhanmondi on May 12. 

She was remanded in a case filed over the killing of teenage protester Sagor, who was shot dead during a student movement on July 29 near Mirpur intersection.

The case, filed by the victim’s mother on November 27, names 243 accused, including Momtaz and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
