BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the next national election must be held within December this year.

He made the remarks in a video message played during a discussion marking the 18th founding anniversary of the National People's Party (NPP) on Sunday (May 25). 

The video was shared on his verified Facebook page.

Tarique Rahman said several political parties have already met with the head of the interim government and demanded a clear announcement of the election date.

He also said the BNP, along with other political parties that have been carrying out movements on the streets, fully supports the efforts of the interim government to reform the public administration and law enforcement agencies for holding a fair national election.
