Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur is set to leave for Singapore on Monday morning (September 22) for advanced medical treatment on doctors’ advice.
The party’s Office Secretary, Shakil Uzzaman, confirmed the matter in a Facebook post on Sunday (September 21). Seeking prayers from the people, he said Dr. Sajjad Hossain will accompany Nur on the trip.
Nur sustained injuries on August 29 during a clash between Gono Odhikar Parishad and Jatiya Party activists in front of the JP central office in Kakrail. Police baton charges left several injured, including Nur, who was rushed to hospital the same day. An emergency medical board was formed, and he was later shifted to the ICU.
A 10-member team of specialist doctors subsequently oversaw his treatment. After weeks of care, he was discharged from Dhaka Medical College Hospital on September 15 and has since been recovering at home.
