DHAKA: Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Tuesday said the party doesn’t believe in stopping freedom of press. 

The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion while addressing a press conference at Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) Bhaban in city.

He said that Awami League believes in freedom of press and democracy and that’s why the licenses of 24 private televisions were given during regime of Awami League government.

In response to a question, he also said the information ministry would explain about broadcast policy but everything should be as per law.
