DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said the country is on the verge of destruction due to the spread of corruption.
Pointing to the recently published Transparency International (TI)’s global corruption perception index, the BNP leader said that corruption increased in Bangladesh as it advanced in the index upgrading from 16 to 14.
Mirza Fakhrul was addressing a program on the 7th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Kalyan Party at the National Press Club.
He said that the country is on the verge of destruction.
According to him, people are living in a suffocative situation as they lack rights including human rights, basic rights and rights of voting and so on.
People are baffled in the fear of killing, kidnapping and false case. The country, it people and democracy should be protected, the BNP leader said.
He further said that a strong demonstration is needed to oust this incumbent government which has no public support.
This demonstration will make them downfall, he hoped.
