DHAKA: In an effort to topple the government, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is now thinking about a nationwide non-cooperation movement as her next phase of the anti-government movement.
Reliable sources of the party also said that as part of the movement plan, the BNP chief will go to the party’s Nayapaltan central office from January, 2015 on a regular basis.
BNP standing committee members, its senior leaders and top leaders of BNP-led 20-party alliance will also go to Nayapaltan office regularly.
A recently held meeting took the decisions on Khaleda’s sitting at Nayapaltan and new phase of movement to oust the incumbent government.
Prior to the announcement of the non-cooperation movement, the BNP-led alliance will hold four rallies in Dhaka and its adjacent districts in a bid to reorganize its leaders and activists at grassroots.
The first rally will be held in Narayangaj on December 13 while the last one is likely to take place at city’s Suhrawardy Udyan at the possible date on January 5.
Khaleda, also head of the alliance, is set to address all rallies as the chief guest and the announcement of non-cooperation movement is likely to come from Dhaka’s rally – the last one, said the sources.
When contacted, BNP joint secretary general Rizvi Ahmed told banglanews that the movement (to overthrow the incumbent government) will get tougher day by day.
Asked whether there will be any non-cooperation agenda, Rizvi said the chairperson’s decision will be the final, what she will decide that will be followed (by party men).
