DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on Tuesday fixed December 18 to announce the decision about the indictment of alleged Razakar Forkan Mallik of Mirzaganj in Patuakhali.
After the hearing, the three-member tribunal led by its chairman Justice Obaidul Hasan passed the order.
Prosecutor Mokhlesur Rahman Badal conducted the hearing to form charge-sheet against Forkan while lawyer Abdus Salam Khan moved for the war crimes accused.
On December 2, the tribunal took cognizance of formal charges submitted by the prosecution against Forkan.
According to the formal charges, he was involved in crimes including genocide, murder, rape, conversion of religion, looting and arson committed in different places of Patuakhali during the 1971 War of Independence.
On October 27, the war crimes investigation agency found evidences to prove five war crimes charges against Forkan.
Finally, formal charges were submitted to the tribunal by the prosecution with eight charges.
The allegations against Forkan were probed by investigator Satya Ranjan Roy from June 26 to October 27.
After remained fugitive for a long time, Forkan was arrested by the Detective Branch of Police in Rupatoli bus stand area of Barisal on June 25 this year.
Earlier on July 21 in 2009, Abdul Hamid, a villager from Mirzaganj, filed a war crimes case with the local police station accusing Forkan of killing people, rape and arson attacks in 1971.
On March 30 in 2010, an arrest warrant was issued as he did not appear before the court in the day.
The court found him guilty in war crimes and then the case documents were sent to the tribunal.
