DHAKA: The International Crimes Tribunal-2 farmed charges against Mahidur Rahman and Afsar Hossain Chutu of Chapainawabganj for their alleged involvement in crimes during the country’s war of independence.
The three-member ICT-2, headed by Justice Obaidul Hasan, passed the order.
The tribunal also fixed January 12 for recording opening statement and depositions against the duo in war crimes case.
Earlier on November 16, the prosecution submitted the formal charge against Mahidur Rahman and Afsar Hossain Chutu. Later on November 24, the tribunal took the formal charge against the duo into cognizance.
Prosecutor Sahidur Rahman submitted the charge.
However, three specific charges related to killing and mass killing during the independence war in 1971 in Shibganj area in Chapainawabganj have been brought against Mahidur and Chutu. Some 24 persons have been named as witnesses.
The ICT investigation agency submitted the final report against them on October 27.
