DHAKA: Ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance will stage rallies in upazilas aiming to uphold their position to the nation and prevent the conspiracy of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
The decision came after an alliance meeting at AL president Sheikh Hasina’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi area on Thursday.
AL presidium member Mohammed Nasim and also spokesperson of 14-party alliance briefed the media after the meeting.
The rally will be arranged from January 15 to January 22 across the country.
The leaders said in the meeting that remarks of BNP and Jamaat provoke the militants for violence.
They also urged to be alert in preventing any conspiracy against the incumbent government.
They repeated their stance regarding the next national elections saying that it will be held according to the constitution.
Nasim said several teams of central committee will work in organizing the rallies.
Moreover, the AL leader thanked the Indian government for arresting the militants who tried to kill Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Pointing at the comment of the European Union delegation about the next election, the AL presidium member said the election will be held under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
AL joint general secretary Dr Dipu Moni, leaders Abdul Mannan Khan, Abdus Sobhan Golap, SM Kamal Hossain, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal general secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia, among others, were present at the meeting chaired by Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Borua.
