‘No way except mass upsurge’

DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia on Friday categorically said there is no alternative of mass upsurge to get rid of incumbent government.

He further said they have to prove themselves to people as reliable and stage mass movement against the government.

Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia made the observations while addressing a discussion meeting on the role of nationalist consciousness to suppress dominating temperament, organised by Zia Sangskritik Sangathan (ZSS) at Jatiya Press Club.

The senior politician further said BNP will establish the rule of law and democracy in the country if it assumes power.

He also emphasized on gaining people’s trust in this regard.

The BNP leader also urged people to respond to the call of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia for staging countrywide demonstrations to save the country and democracy.

With ZSS president Abul Hashem Rana in the chair, industries affairs secretary of BNP M Zahirul Haque Shahjada and Supreme Court lawyer AKM Badruddoza among others addressed the programme.
