DUBAI: A speedy pick-up collided with a private car on Sharjah-Fujairah-Maliha highway of Sharjah in United Arab Emirates (UAE) Friday morning, killing a man and injuring two others.

The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, general secretary of Awami League’s (AL) Ajman unit in UAE, who hailed from Gopalganj district.

The injured were SM Shafiqul Islam, organizing secretary of AL UAE unit, and Mohammad Mohiul Karim Ashik, a cameraman of a Dhaka-based private satellite television channel.

The accident took place at 11:00am on the road, leaving the three injured. They were rushed to AL Dhaid Hospital where Shafiqul succumbed to his injuries.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Al Zaid Hospital and Al Qassimi Hospital.
