NARAYANGANJ: Activists of two factions of local BNP locked into chase and counter chase just after the rally of 20-party-alliance started at 12:30pm Saturday at Kanchpur Balurmath in Sonargaon.  

Witnesses said that supporters of Sonargaon BNP general secretary Azharul Islam Mannan and chairman of Katchpur Union Parishad Alhaj Fazlul haq locked into the clash over establishing supremacy in the rally.

However, according to the sources, local BNP leaders somehow convinced the clashing groups and took the situation under control.  

Now, the local leaders of the alliance have been delivering speeches in the rally, they added.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will address the rally as the chief guest in the afternoon.

20-party alliance convened the rally demanding immediate election under non-party government.
