SAVAR: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is threatening for mass upsurge as she experienced repeated failure to get responses from people.
The minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of extended building of Visitor Bungalow at Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district.
Terming the mass movement ‘wave of river’ and mass upsurge as the ‘tide of sea,’ he said, “When BNP failed to raise voice for the ‘river-wave’ and how they will create the roar of ‘sea-tide.”
He further said that for past six years, they (BNP) did not get public supports, after calling movement over and over again. “After all, they themselves are not prepared for it,” he said.
The minister warned of stern action against BNP saying, the incumbent government will take strong measures to protect people’s lives and properties, if anarchy and violence are carried out in the name of movement.
Roads and Highways Department (RHD) additional chief engineer Sahabuddin Khan, RHD Gazipur district executive engineer Sabuj Uddin and other officials of the department were present at the function.
RHD constructed the extended building by Dhaka-Aricha highway in Islampur area of the upazila with a budget of Tk 54 lakh.
