KANCHPUR (NARAYANGANJ): Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia threatened to wage a tougher movement if the prices of gas, electricity and fuel are increased.

“The tougher movement will be enforced from the day after the government will hike the prices of energy, including electricity and gas,” she said.

The BNP chief made the forewarning while she was addressing a mass rally, organized by local unit of 20-party alliance, at Kanchpur area in the district on Saturday afternoon.

Criticizing the activities of the incumbent government Khaleda Zia claimed that people faced huge load-shedding during summer. The daily household chores as well as the production of many factories were halted due to lack of gas supply, she added.

She also alleged that Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) abducted and killed 11 people in Narayanganj while people commonly know just about seven of them.

Khaleda said that the government and RAB personnel are responsible for the killings.

She also called upon judges to fear Allah not Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while delivering judgments.

The BNP chief said, “There is no judiciary in the country. There is no independence of judiciary and the judges.”

The former prime minister also asserted that the incumbent government has become a burden to the people.

However, the rally was organized on demand of holding a free and fair election under the caretaker government in the country shortly.

BNP district president and also the alliance local convener Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker chaired the program where other leaders of the alliance were also present.
