DHAKA: Ruling Awami League MP (Netrokona-1) Chhabi Biswas was injured as miscreants attacked him and set fire to his vehicle in front of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.

Sources said the Durgapur-Kalmakanda constituency lawmaker is undergoing treatment at DMCH as he received injuries in his ear.

Chhabi Biswas told banglanews that the miscreants attacked his car though noticing ‘Member of Parliament Sticker’.

He added: “I went there to meet the doctors along with a ailing freedom fighter Yakub Ali,” he added. “Miscreants attacked on us after reaching in front of DMCH emergency unit.”

“We tried to leave the place turning back the car but the miscreants set fire to my car at that time,” said the MP. “One of them swooped on me with a stick and hit me with it,” he said.

His fellow travelers, however, rushed him to the emergency unit of DMCH and then the hospital authorities shifted him to the ward.

Duty doctor Afrin said that as MP Chhabi Biswas received injuries on his ear, he has been taken to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Ward.
