Fakhrul demands for impartial polls

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam has demanded for a free, fair and impartial election shortly in the country with the participation of all political parties.

The BNP leader was addressing a program on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day in city’s Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB).

Indicating the incumbent government, he said a neutral and inclusive is needed to be held under the caretaker government in the country.

Mirza Fakhrul claimed that Awami League established one-party rule, BAKSHAL, after the liberation war. “The government is practicing that again,” he added.

Forewarning the government, he also observed that people of the country will not tolerate the practice anymore, he added.

The BNP leader also claimed that by establishing BAKSHAL, they killed intellectuals in the country. They are still gradually killing intellectuals in the present days.

Terming the January 5 election as impartial Fakhrul said that the AL government has abolished the system of caretaker government forcefully.

He also said that people are aware of political game of the AL. So, a free, fair and impartial election can solve this jeopardy, he added.

The BNP leader urged everyone to be prepared to respond and take part in the movement against the incumbent government under the leadership of BNP chief Khaleda Zia.
