Khaleda’s speech on RAB harmful for country

DHAKA: Terming BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s speech against Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) pernicious for the country and the people, the cabinet committee on law-and-order criticized her.

With Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu in the chair, the committee on Wednesday condemned the BNP chairperson after holding a meeting at the home ministry.

Amu said, “We need to encourage and assist our law enforcing agency personnel at this time but, as we are observing, certain party leaders are sullenly speaking against them (law enforcing agencies) and their top officers.” “This could be dangerous for the country and its people,” he said.

Senior Awami League leader also forewarned saying: “No one will be spared if they want to reap by degrading the law and order situation.”

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and State Minister for Labour & Employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu were among others present at the meeting.

On December 13, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, in a 20-party rally at Kanchpur, claimed all the information about killing and missing people would be available if the additional director general of RAB Colonel is detained.
