Tarique sued in Ctg

DHAKA: A Case has been filed against BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman for terming Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman a ‘Razakar’.

Nurul Azim Roni, general secretary of Chittagong city Chhatra League, filed the case with Chief Metropolitan Court on Thursday morning.

Judge Moshiur Rahman Chowdhury kept its verdict pending after taking deposition of the plaintiff.

At a Victory Day programme in London on Monday (December 15), Tarique called Bangabandhu a ‘razakar’, a term used to describe those who collaborated with the Pakistani army during the 1971 Liberation War.

Tarique, the eldest son of BNP chief Khaleda Zia, further claimed that Bangabandhu never wanted an independent Bangladesh, but a joint Pakistan.
