DHAKA: Several cases have been filed against BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman for terming Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman a ‘Razakar’.
Lawyer of Dhaka Bar Mostafizur Rahman Dulal filed a case brining allegation of sedation and defamation and general secretary of Hawkers League filed another case with Dhaka CMM court on allegation of defamation.
In the meantime, Nurul Azim Roni, general secretary of Chittagong city Chhatra League, filed the case with Chief Metropolitan Court on Thursday morning.
While joint secretary of central Awami League Ahmed Ali Mollah also filed a case with Natore Senior Judicial Magistrate Court in the morning.
At a Victory Day programme in London on Monday (December 15), Tarique called Bangabandhu a ‘razakar’, a term used to describe those who collaborated with the Pakistani army during the 1971 Liberation War.
Tarique, the eldest son of BNP chief Khaleda Zia, further claimed that Bangabandhu never wanted an independent Bangladesh, but a joint Pakistan.
