DHAKA: A court on Thursday asked police to submit probe report in a case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia relating to demeaning religious sentiment by January 20.

Magistrate Shamsul Arefin of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) deferred the date of report submission as the Shahbagh police could not submit the investigation report on December 18.

On October 21, Jananetri Parisad president AB Siddique filed a lawsuit against Khaleda Zia with Dhaka CMM court for hurting religious sentiment under the sections no. 153ka and 295ka of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Khaleda exchanged greetings with the members of the country’s Hindu community on October 14 where she said, “Secularism is just their (Awami League) mask; in fact, it is an irreligious party undercover of secularism.”
