Faridpur: Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebok Dal (JSD), volunteers’ wing of BNP, on Friday announced a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district for Saturday protesting the ‘confinement’ of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to her office.

District unit convening committee made the announcement at a press conference in the morning. Its convener Zulfikar Hossain Jewel read out a written speech there.

Zulfikar said the hartal was called in protest against the confinement of Khaleda Zia to her Gulshan office, use of pepper spray on her, sedition case against Tarique Rahman, ban on publishing his speeches and demanding release of BNP’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders.

The hartal will begin from 6:00am on Saturday and continue till 6:00pm.
