DHAKA: Awami League (AL) Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta on Friday categorically said blockade is similar to declaring war against the country.

He also urged government to declare blockade as an unconstitutional, undemocratic and illegal program.

He came up with the assertion at a discussion at Institution of Diploma Engineers’, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in city at noon.

The senior AL leader said the persons, who call for countrywide blockade and observe, should be brought under legal action.

The media should face a ban on broadcasting such brutal and violent news, Suranjit added.

He also criticized the recent attacks on the residences of the High Court Justices. Additional safety measures should be adopted to strengthen overall security of the Justices, he added.

Bangabandhu Academy organized the program where Dr Khandaker Emdadul Haque Selim Bhuiyan presided over.
