DHAKA: Miscreants hurled two cocktails at the house of Chittagong-8 constituency lawmaker Moinuddin Khan Badal in the district on Tuesday.
This is the second recent attack on the executive president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD). Earlier on January 15, miscreants hurled three cocktails aiming at Badal’s political office in Chandgaon residential area of the district.
The latest incident took place prior to the 36-hour hartal, declared by BNP-led 20-party alliance in greater Chittagong from Tuesday 6:00am.
Boalkhali Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Shamsul Haque said several unidentified people threw a pair of cocktails to the lawmaker’s house in Saroatali area under Boalkhali upazila of the district around 2:30am.
Some glass windows of the house were broken when the cocktails were exploded, the OC added.
No causality, however, was reported.
‘Police visited the spot and are taking legal actions,’ the OC added.
Badal, was not at home during the blast, the lawmaker’s brother Monir Uddin Ahmed Khan told banglanews.
Monir said supporters of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami might have blasted the cocktails.
However, a 36-hour shutdown is underway across Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari districts.
