SYLHET: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-led 20-party-alliance has called daylong hartal for Wednesday in Sylhet amid the non-stop countrywide blockade.
However, the strike has been called protesting the detention of senior BNP leaders including the party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Sylhet city mayor Ariful Haq Chowdhury.
Confirming the hartal, joint-convener of district BNP Emran Ahmed Chowdhury said that the shut down will be observed from 6:00am to 6:00pm on the day.
He, moreover, urged people to observe the hartal spontaneously.
