DHAKA: BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi called upon people to make the ongoing 48-hour hartal in Dhaka and Khulna divisions successful.
He made the urge in a statement issued on Wednesday morning and protested the frequent raids in the residences of BNP leaders-activists.
Rizvi, in the statement, claimed that it is the repetition of the situation that the country experienced during the January 5 election in 2014.
“Opposition leaders and activists are being killed and abducted same way the things happened last year. Cadres of the ruling Awami League along with the law enforcers are now killing BNP men one after another,” he alleged.
Referring to the incident of city Chhatra Dal leader Nuruzzaman Jony, the senior BNP leader claimed that the government has also provided the license to the law enforcers for force disappearance and secret-killing of opposition party men.
Rizvi, moreover, added that being forced by the incumbent government, media are publishing propagandas against opponent parties.
He, however, was convinced as people do not believe Awami League and their propagandas.
The BNP joint secretary general said that step-down of the government, fresh election under neutral caretaker government are the demands of people.
He, in his press statement, also urged the BNP-led 20-party-alliance leaders and activists to make the movement a success.
The 48-hour hartal, enforced by the BNP-led alliance, is underway in Dhaka and Khulna divisions from Wednesday dawn amid stray incidents of violence.
