DHAKA: Police arrested 40 persons from different areas of the district in last 24 hours.

Sources told banglanews that among the arrestees there are 13 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

They were held between Tuesday and Wednesday, sources added.

Confirming the arrests, district police media cell in-charge Gaziur Rahman, also the assistant superintendent of police (ASP), said that all the detainees were fugitive of different special and regular cases.
