TANGAIL: Local unit of BNP on Thursday announced a dawn-to-dusk hartal for Sunday (January 25) across the district protesting the arrest of 13 leaders of the party and its front organization.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisor, also district BNP unit president, Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan and general secretary Shamsul Alam Tofa jointly made the announcement at noon.

Tangail Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mustafa confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The detainees include district unit Jubo Dal secretary general Ashraf Paheli, Shramik Dal secretary general AKM Manirul Haque and Chhatra Dal general secretary Shafiqur Rahman Khan.

However, police nabbed them from Shahid Smriti Poura Udyan in district town at 10:00am on the day while they were taking preparation for bringing out a rally supporting the BNP-sponsored ongoing hartal in Tangail.
