DHAKA: Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Friday alleged that Amnesty International, the NGO that deals with human rights in the country, is a paid organization of BNP.
Quamrul further said that the organization is criticizing and advising the government on the enduring political turmoil but it remains silent against the violences carried out by BNP.
He came up with the allegations in a roundtable meeting at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) auditorium in the city.
Bangladesh United Islamic Party organized the program in protest of committing violence in the name of politics and comparing Biswa Ijtema with picnic.
The minister also said there can be no dialogues with BNP leaders who are killing people, torching and vandalizing vehicles in the name of movement.
He, however, said they can sit with BNP for a dialogue if the party leaves the path of violences.
Chairman of the Bangladesh United Islamic Party Maolana Ismail Hossain presided over the program where Dhaka University Arts faculty dean M Akhtaruzzaman, and central AL leaders were among others present here.
