DHAKA: The body of former lawmaker Dr Mohammad Selim, also son of one of four national leaders Captain M Monsur Ali, is expected to arrive here on Sunday morning.

The flight, carrying his body and family members, will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11:00am , said sources concerned.

Later, the first namaz-e-janaza of Selim, who was elder brother of Health Minister and Awami League (AL) presidium member Mohammad Nasim, will be held at South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad.

Health Ministry public relation officer Parokkhit Choudhury told banglanews that the first janaza of Selim will be held at the South Plaza at 12:30pm while the second one at Kazipur of Sirajganj at 2:30pm.

Later, Selim will be buried at Banani graveyard in the city on Sunday afternoon.

Selim died at his London residence on Thursday at the age of 71 due to old age complexities.

A former AL presidium and advisory member, Selim was elected Sirajganj-1 (Kazipur) lawmaker in 1996 from his party. 

Meanwhile, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, mourned the death of Selim, Deputy Speaker M Fazle Rabbi Mia and Chief Whip ASM Firoz expressing profound shock at the demise of Selim.

Selim was survived by wife a son and a daughter.
