DHAKA: Security has been beefed up around BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s political office at Gulshan in the city on Saturday after her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko died in Malaysia.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area. Moreover, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members were also seen patrolling in the area.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, DMP Gulshan Zone Assistant Police Commissioner Nurul Amin said that additional security measures have been taken in the area after Koko’s death news published in the media.
However, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko died at a hospital in Malaysia on Saturday noon.
BNP chief’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan confirmed the matter in a press briefing at her Gulshan political office in the afternoon.
“Arafat Rahman was rushed to a hospital after he felt chest pain. On-duty doctors declared him dead around 12:30pm Bangladesh time,” he told the journalists.
The body of Koko will be arrived in the country on Monday.
