DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s special envoy and also Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad on Saturday threatened to stage a hunger strike demanding the end of ongoing political turmoil.
Dhaka Metropolitan (South) Jatiya Party will organize a symbolic mass hunger strike in front of the party’s central office in city’s Bijoynagar area on January 27.
Dhaka Metropolitan (South) Jatiya Party (JP) convener and also presidium member of the party Syed Abu Hossain Babla said that the party chief and also former president HM Ershad will lead the mass hunger strike.
Babla said that Jatiya Party does not believe in violence in the name of politics.
The former president has already tried twice to end the ongoing violent situation by holding peace rally, he added.
On the other hand, the parliament opposition leader Rowshan Ershad also vowed to stop anarchy in the name politics, the JP leader added.
