Khaleda sued for instigating violence

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was sued for instigating Friday’s arson attack that left 29 passengers of the bus badly burnt in Jatrabari.

Sub-inspector KM Nuruzzaman filed the lawsuit with Jatrabari Thana on Saturday afternoon mentioning names of 18 BNP leaders as ‘planners’ of the violence and 50 leaders-activists of Jatrabari Thana unit BNP as ‘implementers’.

The case was filed under section 15/25 of Special Power Act- 1974.

DMP’s Wari zone deputy commissioner Mostaq Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.

KM Nuruzzaman, the plaintiff of the case told banglanews that Khaleda Zia was made accused for instigating violence.

Though the lawsuit was logged on Saturday afternoon, the matter came to know on Sunday morning.

On Friday night, at least 29 passengers sustained burn injuries as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus in Jatrabari’s Kather Pool area of the city. Besides, 18 other passengers were injured while jumping off the running bus, said police sources.

The victims were undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
