BRAHMANBARIA: At least 20 people, including 12 police personnel, were injured in a clash between BNP activists and law enforcers in Sarail Shaheed Minar area of the district on Sunday.
Of the injured, Sarail Thana Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Abdul Haque and a journalist Shafiqur Rahman were identified while the details of the other injured could not be known immediately.
Police and witnesses said the activists of BNP and its allies brought out a procession supporting the ongoing blockade in the area around 11:00am.
At one stage, the BNP led 20-party alliance men hurled brickbats aiming police, which triggered a chase and counter chase with the law enforcers.
However, police fired rubber bullets and teargas shells to bring the situation under control.
The clash left at least 20 people, including 12 police personnel, and a journalist injured.
Additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert any further untoward situation.
