DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) declared a three-day mourning program from Monday to Wednesday following the death of Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the program in a statement signed by the party’s assistant office secretary Abdul Latif Johny.
According to the statement, Rizvi said that BNP would observe a 3-day mourning program across the country from Monday following the death of Koko, younger son of former president of the country and also founder of BNP Ziaur Rahman and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Black flags will be hoisted atop at the BNP offices and the party leaders and activists will wear black badges.
However, Koko’s namaaz-e-janaza will be held in front of BNP headquarters at Nayapaltan in Dhaka after Asr prayer on Tuesday.
A gayebana janaza will be offered in different places of the country on the following day.
All leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies are requested to observe the program.
Arafat Rahman Koko died at a hospital in Malaysia on Saturday noon. His body has been kept at mortuary after a namaz-e-janaza in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
