CHITTAGONG: ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP, Chairman, Standing Committee on Railway Ministry, was elected as the vice president of Committee on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians of Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva of Switzerland for three years.
He was elected in the four-day long 146th session started on Saturday.
A Clyde of UK was elected as the president of the committee.
Some 301 parliamentarians from 40 countries put emphasis on settling human rights related cases speedily.
ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury had been acting as a member of the committee since March of 2013.
Last year, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Saber Hossain Chowdhury MP were respectively elected as chairperson of CPA executive committee and IPU president.
