Nationwide blockade enters 23rd day

DHAKA: The nationwide blockade of roads, railway and waterways for an indefinite period enforced BNP-led 20-party alliance has entered the 23rd straight day on Wednesday amid stray incidents of sabotages.

The alliance has been observing the blockade since BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, on January 5,  announced the nationwide blockaded protesting government bar to obverse the ‘democracy killing day’ and her confinement to Gulshan political office.

The blockade sabotage claims at least 40 lives across the country and over hundred people are battling for life at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

However, incumbent Awami League government marked the first year of its 5-year tenure with lots of successes since it had taken office through January 5 polls, which BNP boycotted.
