DHAKA: At least 355 suspected anarchists, including a mentionable number of leaders and activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami, were detained from 11 districts of the country including the capital.
Detective Branch (DB) of police detained three suspected petrol bomb attackers from city’s Keraniganj area at dawn.
Besides, rests were nabbed from Khulna, Habiganj, Narail,Brahmanbaria, Chandpur, Satkhira, Noakhali, Jhenaidah, Jessore, Kushtia,Gaibandha and Chittagong, during the drives conducted between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Police detained 39 people, including nine BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists, in Khulna; 24 people from Habiganj; 22 people from Narail; 101, including 11 BNP-Jamaat men, from Brahmanbaria, and 23 BNP-Jamaat men from Chandpur.
Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson additional police commissioner Moniruzzaman Mithu, Habiganj Sadar uapzila ASP Masudur Rahman Monir, Narail Assistant Police Superintendent Sarder Rakibul Islam, Brahmanbaria additional superintendent of police M Zahidul Islam, and Chandpur Police Superintendent Mohammad Amir Zafor separately confirmed the detention to banglanews.
Moreover, police also held 30 including 8 Jamaat activists in Satkhira, 16 BNP-Jamaat men in Noakhali, 9 BNP-Jamaat activists in Jhenaidah, 58 people in Jessore, 4 BNP men in Kushtia, 19 BNP-Jamaat men in Gaibandha and 7 BNP-Jamaat men in Chittagong.
Senior police officers of the respective districts confirmed the matters to banglanews.
